Wow a lot of changes.:

10 rounds instead of 9.
€30 entree fee far more than normally
The clock is different.

Can you explain these chances?

And what does clonewars mean?

Greetings

hi ruben,

we had stratego wc`s with 9 and 10 rounds - it depends of the time and
the organisation. but 10 is always better than 9.

about the fees - we had 20-25 in past, but this is only the smallest part.
most expensive are travel costs. (like ukraine last year or london in past)

also it depends of the location - a good location is very expensive, but fun
to play.
i think less travel costs but 5 euro more is a good deal. beside we got free
coffee- tea - snacks for all.

the playing time depends of the isf rules - please read the rules at the isf webside.

and about clone wars - its the new stratego adventure we will have in august.

Thanks for the reply stratego! I thought it was €15 in the past but I may be wrong... For the clock I cant find it on the website but I know I always played with a 4 seconds per move clock instead of 5. And normally the WC's have more than 14 minutes clock. And some more game time I thought 1 hour 5 minutes....

But those are just details!

Im looking forward to the WC!

hi ruben,

you find the rules here:

http://www.isfstratego.com/images/isftournamentregulations.pdf

look for 15.2.3 - you find several clock settings, all are allowed.
which setting we use, depends of the orga-team. (but we must use one of them)

we had 17:04 in past, with 10 min setup - but most players, start the game
after some minutes and do not need the game time of 65 mins.
instead of waiting we can add one round.
in the end we smaller the setup time to 5 min and the game time from 65
to 60 min. small changes, but 10 min x9 = 90 min = one more round!

I agree with Stratego that 5 minutes setting up time must be enough...it always was on the national championships. At WC's players have to wait till the setup time is over, and thats boring with 10 minutes!

Greetings Ronald

nice job stratego

this is way better in my opinion. 10 rounds something to look forward. one more round to punish some people or get punished

anyway is there anything known already about the nearest hotel and the costs of it ?

@ iron_eagle take koehandelen with you

Update after day 1.

Pim is currently winning.
DC Annies and playa1 in close contention.

Still could go to one of a number of players....depending on tomorrows results. All still to play for.

Great tournament so far......great venue and great weather.

the NoChance-View:

what a weekend! hard, good and with many surprises

before the championship was starting, i hoped to face many of the very high ranked players and to play at sunday for the german team.

At friday/saturday i played against adriaansen, van den Berg, r. kik, ehrenberger, steffen annies, w. goulden (more than 1700 points!)
- (2 wins, 1 draw, 3 losses)

The game against steffen was the game from friday/saturday i enjoyed most... ok, i lost...

Anyway: with my other wins, i was a part, why Steffen is now the Champion-> : "Steffen, i need a drink... sorry, ...10 drinks !!"

-> my wc was very successful: Top 10, but ... OMG: i was not one of the best 4 german players, could this be true? it was!
But then the 4th best german travelled home at sunderday morning and asked me, to play for him: I did! (3 more high-ranked players + r. kik)

- my sunday was very good as well and i think, the games against tim slagboom and g. franka will be reminded by all who watched the games.
Against tim i forgot the time, so my save draw was an unlucky loss, anyway: it was a good game! against g. franka i forgot to take the beaten marshall from the board! best thing: franka didnt recognized that as well!!! well, the marshall was not important any more and my miner was running to his bombed-in- flag
Last but not least i beat ricardo kik, i was only one move in front, to get his flag; sorry ric!

It was a very exciting, super organized tourney. Many thanks to Dieter Krapp and the other Organisers (o.a. Ronald Kieftenbeld!)

For the topplayers it was thrilling to the last round (4 players with equal points: Steffen, Tim, Pim, George). And for the first time in History a German player: (Steffen Annies!) won the tourney which is great for the Germans while they played a home match, and stratego exist there 100 years?

For me it was like many other players a crazy tournament with lots of surprises. Day 1 was a good day, with a surprising crazy complicated win against Mathias Ruch (he finished 5th if Im not mistaken). Unfortunately the energy cost me a loss in round 5 so I ended with 3 wins 2 losses.

After a long night day 2 went not so good. 3 losses against equal, lesser players on the ranking and 2 nog so surprising wins. In the end I finished 25th.

Like always it was a great tourney, with lots of happy people. It was fun to meet Ace and NoChance. My image of Ace was totally wrong for some reason... In the evening I played him a great friendly game which he won by putting his flag at the wrong place .

Cu Next year!
