hello all,

just a very first info, in the moment we proof a date
in august (11-13 aug) in belgium for a wc this year. things look good,
but its not 100% clear at the moment.

hope next days we have the final info. stay tuned...

i think its not the time for a trip to usa next years. but never say never. times are changing, people are changing and things too. but for
sure we need hasbro for sponserchip and thats not easy. also there was
no intrest for a usa national championchip here at gravon, thats not the
best way to start such a big topic. first of all we need players or better much more players. in the end they start all and they have the power.

i'm really excited about the wc. do you think we can arrange a kind "fahrgemeinschaft" since i'm the only guy from my area who is interested in stratego?

after this desaster about the usa championship i think a wc in the US makes no sense (at least in the next years). who has $700 only for a flight to the usa only because of a stratego tournament? i assume nobody...

It would cost an American about $400 just to fly to anywhere in the USA to meet. Europe has a much better transportation system. We could drive I suppose, for 2 days with no hotel stop halfway in between the destination, but who'd want to? As you say. If the price is right, (free)
then its alright. But as you say we can't even get an online tourney going, who in the heck is going to want to meet. Even if the tournament was in say Chicago, to me that's a five hour drive and I have lawn to mow and kids to grow.

how's it going?
yes, it is really expensive to fly from europe in the usa.
a flight in march (the cheapest month to flight) costs around $400 (with a really cheap airline)
a flight in the summer costs between $700 and &1000 (or more). depends on the airline. if you want a flight with lufthansa or united airlines you better bring $1200

Does anybody provide professional therapy for the losers of the tournament? Surely, they are not merely sent out into the world in such frail mental states following elimination! I have seen the rage and anger that most players display following losses and I can only imagine that it gets even worse in tournaments. If the stratego community is willing to invest in my services, I am willing to cart my infamous super electro zapper overseas (as well as a few other assorted corrective instruments) in order to relieve the anguish of those affected by these type of traumas. I am also willing to make glorious, detailed speeches of my successes with the females in order to provide entertainment and proper role modeling for young, aspiring males. True, they will never grow up to be as great as I am, but it sure helps to provide hope. With this seed, one can envision the framework for developing a flourishing life that he can be proud of. I would also request that any females present are properly contained and leashed. I do not wish to cause the type of inevitable humiliation, when some of you gaze in horror, as your females lose control of themselves due to my overwhelming attractiveness. Of course I would bring many applications for my fan club and will allot the proper amount of time to sign autographs and talk briefly to my adoring fans.

It is indeed 11-13 August in Edegem nearby Antwerpen. Hotel costs are 50% for WK participans. There is a special Practising hall called Rubens hall

Costs are €65 for 1 or 2 person room inclusive Breakfast. (normally €130)

hello all,

the final decision isn`t made, but for 99% its the same place/hotel we
played in 2004. also the conditions will be nearly the same for the players.

i think we get the final infos soon. sbn and stradev are in a daily contact
with jumbo. also its a fact, that we will not play with the new pieces.
the wc and national championchips will use the "old" game in 2006.

but maybe normal tourneys will use the new game. at gravon we will wait, till the game is officially in the stores. hope you all like the female spy

the final decision is made.

the stratego world championchip 2006 is from 11 till 13 august in antwerp / belgium - same place we had in 2004

the prices of the rooms are:
single or double room EUR 65 per room/per night including breakfast.
triple room EUR 80 including breakfast.

untill 31 may the hotel has reserved 40 rooms for stratego. after that it is still possible but there is a change the rooms are rented to someone else.

people have to say it is for stratego because normal prices are EUR 120.

So when is the deadline for me to make a decision if I am coming to play with the greats???

I am 65% sure I am coming to Europe still. I even have a companion to split costs of Hotel and stuff.
