|
|
Hi!
often i am asked about this and that feature and some users don't even know all the nice little features we have.
So i will use the forum to introduce a few of the features which are very handy.
First of all:
The 15 minute timeout:
If your opponent leaves the game (perhaps because he is loosing), he gets 15 minutes to come back to play.
After 15 minutes, the player who is still in the game will be declared winner.
That means if your opponent is gone, stay in the game for 15 minutes and you will win.
Don`t worry if your opponent leaves while a battle is going on and the red arrow still points to you. The timeout will still work and you will win after 15 minutes.
If your opponent does not leave but instead does not draw, the timeout is also applied.
We will not shorten the amount of time, because sometimes opponents really have trouble with there connection and come back after some time.
We will on the other side not make it longer because left players would have to wait too long until they get their victory.
The setup editor:
After having entered a stratego room you can choose "Setup editor" from the menu bar:
If you do, you will be able to build up a setup.
With "Quit" you leave the setup editor and return to the game field.
With "Mirror" you can mirror your setup vertically.
With "Reset" you can clear the board.
Now you may ask "what is this good for?"
Answer:
Within the setup editor, you can load and save your setups (via the menu, as you would do it in a game).
So it enables you to create, alter and store setups.
Because loading and saving of setups is only available to registered users only those can use the setup editor.
Storing more than 20 setups:
It IS possible to store more than 20 setups.
In order to be able to do this, you will have to use the download client (the browserless version). It can be found on the download page.
The download client is able to store setups on your local harddisk, up to as many as free space is available on your harddisk (usually millions of setups).
Inside the client, you will get a new menu option:
The option is named "Local setups"
If you choose it, you will see a menu option called "Save".
It will save the current setup on your harddisk. You will be prompted to enter a name.
If you already did store at least one setup this way, you will also see a list of saved setups on
your harddisk, e.g. "Beat it 1" on the picture.
If you choose one of them you get a sub menu with two options: "Load" will load the setup, "Delete" will remove it.
Important: Local setups are stored on your harddisk and so are only available if you use the download client on your pc.
To use setups from any pc, store them in one of the 20 usual slots.
I hope these features are usefull
Best regards
spion

Hi!
you can also use the editor for UL setups. There are only two problems:
you will have to count your pieces yourself and must not setup more pieces than allowed for UL games,
and you will have to place miners instead of corporals (in the american pieces set they look still the same).
If you take care of that you can use setups built this way in UL games.
Someday i will add UL support directly to the setup editor.
Best regards

What if the player disconnected comes back before 15 minutes and then disconnects again? Does he get another 15 minutes grace period? If so, can't this be abused to force the other player to eventually quit? |

Hi!
After 15 minutes the player has to move. No matter, how long or often he disconnected.
But this rule already is being abused, some players tend to use the full 15 minutes for every single move.
There will be a clock system in the very future.
Best regards

hello all,
spion uploads a new version today with some new features:
1. the bug with the bronstein modus is fixed. if you see any probs,
please send an email to the admins.
you can check the results in the result list: the game is listed.
(remember: dark blue: unranked game - light blue: ranked game)
2. you can now use: "starting next round" (menue: games)
no need anymore to leave a game and rejoin for the next match.
all settings are saved from last game.
3. after a player leaves a game, you see a minute timer in chat now.
this shows how long you have to wait for the win. of course only
the player who waits see this.
4. room numbers are green now. maybe we have some different room types
in future. in the moment only the colour is different.
5. if players wants to play ranked malefiz games, they must aks the
admins for enabling the ranking. (no need to ask, if you had a ranking
option till today - this is more for new players)
6. the link for the strados2 player is now again at webside:
(its a webstart player, you have to stay online)
in future we have a download player for offline using again.
you find the link under: stratego - strados2 - then click at "launch strados 2"
direct link: http://www.gravon.de/gravon/stratego/strados2.jsp
please dont use the older download version for offline use - he cannot open
the current files. for more information read the strados page.
greetings

How can I create my own game for others to join, based on the settings I choose (such as time control)? I've been looking around for this on various parts of the site, but couldn't find it yet. Thanks for your time. |

hi,
there is no option (for the moment) to create or download your own games.
because we do not want to spy out other players, the download files are
without name, haven`t an exact date or show how many moves were made.
maybe we offer this option in future.
