Dear Stratego friends,

I'm happy to invite you to the 2nd Norway Open Stratego Championship and Barrage tournament in Arendal:

Friday March 6th 12.00-15.00: Southern Norway Open Barrage Championship
Saturday March 7th 12.00-18.00: Norway Open Stratego Championship

Both tournaments will be rated by the International Stratego Federation.

Arendal is located on the south coast of Norway, 1 hour drive from Kristiansand, where there are ferry connection to Denmark and international flights to/from Amsterdam and Copenhagen.

You may also go by airplane to Torp/Sandefjord (2 hour drive from Arendal), where there are direct flights to/from Amsterdam, Bremen, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Kiev, London and more. There are bus lines from/to Sanderfjord every hour, but if your flight arrive later than 21.00, other transport has to be organized.

You can find more information about the tournaments, venue, accommodation, transport etc. here:
http://www.spilluka.no/index.php?pageID=185

The tournaments are organized by the games festival "Spilluka" (Games' Week), which runs from March 2-8th. There will also be tournaments in lots of other boardgames, such as chess, Risk, Othello, Rummikub, Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne etc.

The complete schedule can be found here:
http://www.spilluka.no/index.php?pageID=186&page=program_2009

Unfortunately the information is in Norwegian only, but I think you will understand most of it.

Typically, there's first an introduction ("oppl?ring"), then a tournament ("mesterskap/turnering"). All tournaments are free and open to all. Except there's a small fee for the Othello tournaments on Sunday, which are hosted by the Norwegian Othello Federation.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Hope to see you in Arendal!

Best wishes,

Vidar Aas,
organizer,
